My experience with Dr. Kanter was positive, informative and productive. He showed genuine concern and was up front about my options. I like the fact that he did not rush to a decision, but ordered X Rays and another test to be certain what the next step was. He was very professional, listened intently to my questions, gave appropriate responses and seemed genuinely concerned that I clearly understood his assessment and the next steps. He and another of his colleagues came highly recommended and I am confident in his skills and ability to do a first rate job. Also please keep in mind, this survey may be somewhat skewed because this appointment was my first and only visit with him so far, I have not yet been scheduled for my follow up appointment. The office was packed to capacity and the wait was long. I was 15 minutes late for the appointment and was anxious about it, but when I called the receptionist to let her know I was going to make it, she was very reassuring and told me that all would be fine. I was however not completely pleased with his PA. Her initial examination went fairly well and she accurately assessed my cervical spinal symptoms. However she seemed to be in a rush and informed the doctor about my cervical condition but obviously left out my lumbar condition (after Dr Kanter discussed the treatment plan for the cervical condition, I asked him about my lumbar MRI and his assessment, and he said he was unaware of it but offered to look at it right then and gave me the option of discussing it then or handling it on my follow up appointment). During the final encounter with the PA, she was even more rushed and made a comment to my wife and I about being the last ones in the clinic and that the support staff was gone for the day (as if that was our fault?). Overall my care by the doctor was very good and I am confident that I am in good hands. On the other hand, there are some opportunities for improvement that UPMC should take advantage of to create a more positive experience for patients

Dr. Kanter and his entire staff are top of the line - professional yet always make me feel they personally remembered me and my situation. I can only use superlatives when talking about Dr. Kanter and his entire staff. I may even gush when relating my experience. I never felt safer, in more competent hands or treated more cordially by any other office.

I do not feel that Dr Kanter spent enough time with me and I do not believe that he accurately assessed my condition and provided the correct route for treatment due to his lack of time assessing me.
