Dr. Walter E. Rizzoni joined UPMC in 2007 and is chief of the Division of Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery at UPMC Hamot and an assistant professor of surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He is certified in thoracic and cardiac surgery by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and in vascular surgery by American Board of Surgery.
Dr. Rizzoni earned his medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine and completed residencies at Boston University Hospitals and Loma Linda University Hospital. He completed fellowships in surgical oncology at the National Cancer Institute and vascular surgery and cardiothoracic surgery at the Carolinas Medical Center. Dr. Rizzoni’s practice encompasses open vascular and endovascular surgery, as well as adult cardiac and thoracic surgery.
