Had to wait almost 50 minutes to see the doctor.

September 22, 2017

I have never had a bad experience when seeing Dr. Manway, and as of this past week, I have been an on-and-off patient of his for three years now. Even if I have gone months between office visits, Dr. Manway never discourages asking questions if they come up in the interim. He has answered an absurd amount of questions for me via email since I came under his care. This spring I had gone 6 months between office visits, between December and May, before seeing him for a follow-up from a car accident last November. I saw him twice in May, when he ordered an MRI for my left ankle and then the follow-up for the results. That should have been one of the last times I would see him for this case, but three weeks later, I re-sprained the same ankle and was back in his office in June, went for a 4-week follow-up in July, and my appointment with him this past Friday was an 8-week follow-up. Dr. Manway and I have a good patient/physician rapport built over these past few years, and even though I do not want to suffer an injury that lands me in his office, I never worry about it when I do. He has adopted a certain amount of humor when dealing with me that I appreciate, especially with my re-injury this summer so soon after having seen him. I recommend Dr. Manway to friends that may be suffering distal leg/foot/ankle complaints, and at least one of my friends now has him as their provider, too. He truly is one of the best providers you could ever ask for, not only as a physician, but as a foot & ankle specialist. He is a credit to UPMC Foot & Ankle Division, and I greatly enjoy my conversations with him about not only my cases in particular, but also general knowledge and research that pertains to his field. He balances the line between expressing concern over my injury, while also demonstrating an interest in my life. I count him as one of the best men I know, both personally and professionally, and I hope Orthopaedic Surgery understands exactly what caliber of physician they employ. I wish more of my doctors past and present were as brilliant as Dr. Manway has always been. I am constantly thankful that I was referred to him back in September 2014, and that I have not had to worry about any of my foot & ankle injury care since then.
