Dr. Eric Hager earned his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, then completed a residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. He completed a vascular surgery fellowship at UPMC and joined the division of Vascular Surgery in 2012.
Dr. Hager has won various teaching awards through his training and is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, the medical honor society. He is board-certified in general and vascular surgery and specializes in treatment of venous disease. He is an Associate Professor of Surgery.
Dr. Hager serves as Chief of Vascular Surgery at UPMC East and Co-Director of Venous Services at the UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute's Vein Center. His clinical practice includes open surgical and endovascular (minimally invasive) treatment of aneurysms, carotid disease, peripheral vascular disease, and dialysis access.
Dr. Hager sees patients at our UPMC St. Margaret office.

I was in a severe car accident on New Years and have had a whirlwind of a year in various medical establishments. During this year I have seen countless doctors, surgeons, and medical professionals. Dr. Hager exceedingly rose above any expectations I had, and is at the top of the list of high quality physicians. Dr. Hager was superbly informative, and thoughtfully caring while discussing my ultrasound results as well as expectations down the road of recovery. This is the first appointment after the accident that I left truly positive and hopeful for my recovery. I can't thank him enough for his knowledge, kindness, and overall professionalism.
