Michael Morowitz, MD, FACS, is a board-certified pediatric surgeon in the Department of General and Thoracic Surgery at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and associate professor of surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He received his medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine and completed his residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania followed by his Fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Dr. Morowitz’s clinical interests include establishment of the gut microbiome in newborn premature infants with and without necrotizing enterocolitis. He has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and is a member of the Society of University Surgeons.
