Jennifer Holder-Murray, MD, is a colorectal surgeon at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center. She has a clinical interest in malignant and benign diseases of the colon, rectum, and anus.
Dr. Holder-Murray specializes in sphincter preservation, as well as robotic, minimally invasive, and transanal techniques in colon and rectal surgery with an emphasis on colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease, and anorectal problems. She also performs surgery for diverticulitis and other conditions of the colon, as well as surgical treatment of benign conditions of the anus such as fistula, hemorrhoids, fissure, and incontinence.
Dr. Holder-Murray is board-certified in surgery and colon and rectal surgery. She received a medical degree from the University of Nevada and completed a general surgery residency at the University of Chicago Medical Center. Dr. Holder-Murray completed fellowship training at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
Dr. Holder-Murray is a member of professional organizations including American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America, and Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract.

It does not get much better than the doctor and nurse that I had an encounter with. This was my best life experience as it relates to the doctor's ability to have a balanced discussion with me as a patient. Depth of discussion, listening skills, sympathy, and knowledge, in my estimation, is superior.

Dr. Holder-Miurray is very thorough in her discussions about my condition. She explains everything in great detail, but shows concern at the same time. I greatly appreciated her being able to balance out discussing details of a scary potential outcome with compassion and a desire to try all other treatments available.
