Matthew F. Muldoon, MD, is a hypertension specialist and is certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is the founding director of the Hypertension Center at the UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute and is a professor of medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Dr. Muldoon received his medical degree from the Abraham Lincoln School of Medicine in Chicago. He completed his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in clinical pharmacology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, followed by a master’s degree in epidemiology at the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health.

Dr. Muldoon joined the UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute in 2014. In addition to treating patients with hypertension, he has conducted or contributed to many studies concerning exercise, stress, nutrition, and other psychosocial factors in the development of heart disease. He is a fellow in the American Heart Association.

Dr. Muldoon lives in Shadyside with his wife, remains active in the lives of his three sons and grandchildren, and enjoys outdoor activities in the Laurel Highlands.
