Dr. Shah is very personable and explained everything in a way I understood. We are basically tracking the progress (or hopefully "non-progress") of an eye condition. He checks me every 6 months if nothing "bad" happens between visits.

April 24, 2019

My main complaint is the long delays in seeing Dr. Shah--don't know whether it was his fault or not but my visit was 3 hours in length. There is no excuse for this.

Good

March 20, 2019

He is keeping a close watch on my eye condition.

It seemed like the doctors were overbooked. There was a longer than 15 min wait time with many people in the waiting room, but the staff were helpful in explaining the delay. At one point, there were no more seats available and people had to stand.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr Shah and his staff at the Eye Center! This was my first surgery ever, and he was so patient, explained everything in terms I could understand and answered all my questions. The staff at the UPMC Eye Center, and at UPMC Mercy where my surgery was done, were fantastic. Everyone from the surgical staff to the parking garage attendant were kind, pleasant, and helpful. I would highly recommend Dr Shah and the UPMC Eye and Ear Institute.

February 27, 2019

My experience with Dr. Shah and the other health car providers at my last visit was professional, courteous, and informative. Any questions or concerns that I had were answered. I was treated in a very professional and caring manner.

The clinic seemed somewhat disorganized. I recognize that there has to be a certain amount of wait time for the pupils to dilate before taking the patient to a test, but the entire visit took 90 minutes with about five minutes of actual contact time with a provider. One instrument had been recently moved or something, and I think they were going to test me on it but didn't because it was out of service or unavailable... it wasn't quite clear. Then when the doctor finally saw me, he basically immediately told me I didn't even need to really be there (for a diabetic retinal exam one year after an initial exam) because my eyes were currently fine and any diabetes-related changes would be very slow and could be identified by a standard optometrist -- in which case, why did they schedule me to come back, after the first visit a year ago? I'm just as happy not to come back; the physician was very brusque in the current appointment and one year ago and I did not care for his "bedside manner" at all.

Doctor and everyone who administered my tests were courteous and competent. Doctor was extremely personable and very comprehensive. More so than I expected.

I appreciate Dr. Shah being upfront about my care and letting my tests reveal whether I need an eye injection or not.
