Kevin Franzese, DO, is a physiatrist and is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation and brain injury medicine. He is an assistant professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, who presently practices inpatient brain injury, stroke, and neurological rehabilitation on a teaching service at UPMC Mercy and is a consultant at UPMC Presbyterian. In his outpatient clinic, he sees patients with concussions and more severe brain injuries, strokes, and spasticity. His academic interests lie in acute care management of patients with severe traumatic brain injuries and in resident education and wellness. He received his medical degree from Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed an internship at Flushing Hospital Medical Center, his residency at Rusk Institute at NYU School of Medicine, followed by his fellowship at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab at Northwestern University School of Medicine (formerly the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago).
Dr. Franzese’s clinical interests include brain injury medicine and medical education. He has lectured on neurological rehabilitation at local and regional levels and is a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Dr Franzese is an exceptional human being. His care for his patients is genuine. His desire to understand and empathize is refreshing. Doctors don't always take the time these days to understand and treat patients appropriately. Dr. Franzese is a Wiz Bang Dr, but more importantly, his compassionate human component makes him all the better. We appreciate Dr Franzese. Thank you!

Dr. Franzese is an excellent physician. He clearly communicates his diagnoses with me in a way I can understand, without being condescending. He's very patient and understanding, and takes the time to listen and respond to my questions and concerns. I truly feel heard and cared for, the two most valuable assets in a doctor.
