N. A. Mark Estes, MD, FACC, FHRS is a cardiologist and is certified in cardiology and clinical cardiac electrophysiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine, as well as in cardiac implantable electronic devices by the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners. He is a professor of medicine and program director of the Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He received his medical degree from University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and completed his residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital, followed by his fellowships in cardiology and clinical cardiac electrophysiology at Tufts Medical Center and Massachusetts General Hospital.
After three decades as the Director of the New England Cardiac Arrhythmia Center, he joined the UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute in 2018. His clinical interests include cardiac arrhythmias, atrial fibrillation, cardiovascular disease in the athlete, syncope, pacemakers and ICDs. He has served as President of Heart Rhythm Society and Chair of the American Heart Association Council of Clinical Cardiology. He serves as the Editor-In-Chief of the Cardiovascular Section of UpToDate, and on the editorial board of 11 journals. He is on the exam writing committees for the American Board of Internal Medicine Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Exam and International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners. He has over 600 publications including authorship or co-authorship of nine books. He currently Chairs the American Heart Association Scientific Publishing Committee. Dr. Estes lives in Sewickley with his wife and enjoys biking, skiing, sailing and tennis.
