Dr. Chu's assistant, I believe Dr. McCreary, was helpful in assessing my medical needs prior to meeting with Dr. Chu. Dr. Chu was familiar with my various medical problems (he reviewed my health chart prior to visiting with me), and was knowledgeable about my Fibromyalgia/Small Fiber Neuropathy. He quickly formulated a plan of testing/treatment that seemed to me to address my various health concerns, which are complex because I have so many varied neuropathies. It was also apparent that he was assessing my appropriateness for a possible course of monitored narcotic therapy. I am determined to be compliant whatever his course of treatment, as I am currently in such discomfort that finding the right course of long-term treatment cannot come too quickly to me. This is because of the increased anxiety and insomnia I have been experiencing since my shoulder tendon repair six months ago. Patience and endurance is what I must focus on. I feel hopeful in Dr. Chu's care.

Dr. Chu and his staff is very professional, pleasant, caring and compassionate. He explains everything, shows me my MRI and the reason for the problems I am experiencing. We talk about my past, present and any future problems I may have and explains in detail with any tests or procedures that need to be done. He is a wonderful physician and I am always very optimistic when I leave his office.

Dr Chu thoroughly talked with me, but offered me no help. Wish someone had answers.

excellent doctor

Dr. Chu is the model that all medical students should use if they want to be a "good" doctor. He is ALWAYS efficient, knowledgeable, insightful & thorough, but above all, he is truly concerned about every aspect of my health & anything that might compromise my well-being. I am truly blessed to have Dr. Chu treating my sometimes complicated problems, as he has proven time & time again that he puts my health & well-being above everything else when I'm in his office. I've recommended him to many of my friends & family, & those who have seen him have also been helped by his expert care. If there was a way to give him a trophy for, "Best Doctor in the World", I'd do it in a heartbeat. Since that's not possible, I hope that UPMC treasures him for every wonderful thing he does for his patients...he is the biggest jewel in your crown, & I know I can't live without his awesome care! I know that my many health problems would be a LOT worse if I wasn't taken care of by Dr. Chu. I'm truly blessed to have him as my doctor.
