Ronald R. Johnson, MD, is the co-director of the Magee-Womens Breast Cancer Program. He specializes in surgical oncology, specifically breast cancer.
Dr. Johnson is board-certified in general surgery. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the University of Scranton, and a medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Dr. Johnson completed residencies at UPMC and the University of Pittsburgh Medical School.
Dr. Johnson is a member of professional societies, such the Breast Committee of the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast Project and American Society of Breast Surgeons. He serves as the CME director for Breast Cancer Education, and has been active in training surgeons in new breast technology both regionally and nationally. Dr. Johnson's publications include peer reviewed journals, invited articles, monographs, and book chapters. His current research interests are focused on patient education, minimally invasive technology, and neoadjuvant therapy of breast cancer. He also is the local principal investigator for the American College of Surgeons Oncology Group.

Dr. Johnson was very thorough and informative! One of the best Dr I've had. Made sure he understood my concerns and took time to listen to me! Did not rush with my appointment and gave me an assurance with my concern that all was well! He's an excellent Dr. And Is very caring.
