Gary Galang, MD, is a physiatrist with advanced training in traumatic brain injury medicine and spinal cord medicine. He is certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. Galang is the medical director at UPMC Mercy, assistant director of PM&R Fellowship Programs, and is an assistant professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He received his medical degree from the University of the Philippines College of Medicine and completed his residency at UPMC, followed by two fellowships at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.

Dr. Galang’s clinical interests include traumatic brain injury, acquired brain injury, spinal cord injury, spasticity, post-concussive syndrome, neurotoxins, and motor neuron disease. He is particularly interested in improving patient transitioning from the different levels of rehabilitation care. Additionally, he is active in community volunteerism, serving often on marathon medical teams. He is also active in resident education.
