Kevin P. Mollen, MD, is a pediatric surgeon in the Division of General and Thoracic Surgery at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and is certified by the American Board of Surgery. He is associate professor of surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Dr. Mollen received his medical degree from the University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and completed his residency in general surgery at The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine followed by his fellowship in pediatric surgery at UPMC Children’s.
Dr. Mollen is surgical director of UPMC Children’s Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease Program. His clinical interests include inflammatory bowel disease, thyroid surgery, anorectal malformations, and Hirschsprung’s disease. He is principal investigator of a NIH-funded research program investigating mitochondrial dysfunction during the pathogenesis of inflammatory bowel disease. He has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and is a member of the American Pediatric Surgical Association, the Society of University Surgeons, the Association for Academic Surgery, and the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation.
