Sylvia Choi, MD, FAAP, is a board-certified pediatric hospitalist at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. She is also vice chair of Faculty Affairs and an associate professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
Dr. Choi joined the Paul C. Gaffney Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine in 1998 following completion of her pediatric residency at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, including a year spent as chief resident. Prior to that, she earned her medical degree from the Boston University School of Medicine.
Since joining the team at UPMC Children’s, Dr. Choi has dedicated herself as a clinician-educator to advancing the care of hospitalized children as well as providing robust learning opportunities for trainees and clinicians at UPMC Children’s and the surrounding tri-state area.
Her clinical interests include children with medical complexity and observation medicine. Choi enjoys teaching with a focus on communications skills and has been involved with resident and faculty education as well as national workshops.
