Dr Donald Smith was respectful, listening to my concerns and treated my condition with efficiency.

Dr. Smith performed a complete hip replacement for me, and his care and concern, as well as his compassion, showed through each time I interacted with him, pre- and post-surgery.

Great Doctor. Understanding and informative.

Dr. Smith has always been very attentive to my whole health, not just the knee replacement surgery. He listened as I told of things w that had happened in the past. On my follow-up surgery bee showed me an exercise for my sciatica and have me s shot that has reduced the pain enough to continue exercising. He was encouraging with positive remarks about the stretch and the bend.

Dr. Smith did an excellent job with my thumb.

I don't think I received a MyUPMC medical questionnaire. If I did, I don't remember having anyone go over it with me.So my answer to that question may not be accurate. The staff was very courteous and efficient. However I was disappointed with the doctor for 2 reasons. 1) I wasn't wearing the sling for my Patella injury and he was very verbally critical towards me for that. He said he had told me to wear it at all times except to take a shower. He did not tell me that at my first visit with him. If he had, why would I have rejected his instructions? I want this injury to heal as completely as possible, so if he would have told me to wear the sling all the time, I certainly would have. There was little or no pain without it, so I thought there was no need to wear it at all times. However, since that visit, I have been doing so. 2) I had prepared a list of questions and provided the list to the aid prior to the Dr. seeing me. He said he would attach the list to my chart and that the Dr. would be in shortly. After I got the verbal lashing for not wearing the sling, I was not in a state of mind to ask about my list of questions and he didn't acknowledge that there were any questions. It appeared to me that he had no intention of addressing my questions. I am going to go to another Orthopidist as a result of that visit.

The provider did not my job into consideration for my injury. I could barley walk let alone run or take person down as a correctional officer but he told me if I played sports he would let me play. Sports does not put people's lives in jeopardy if you can not respond.
