Dr. Achkar is an amazing doctor, he has helped to keep my RA in check for several years and now when it's flaring up again he is taking active steps to ensure I receive the best care and educating me on what the next steps may be in my treatment. While taking the time to answer my questions and making sure, I fully understand all my options. When my husband's company switched to BC/BS insurance I have to admit I was a nervous wreck thinking, I would have to switch my care to another doctor. I was relieved when I found that because I was an existing patient I could still receive care from Dr. Achkar through June of 2019. Fingers crossed we either have new insurance by then, or UPMC and Blue Cross can come to some type of agreement that puts their own needs aside and puts the patient first so I can continue my care with Dr. Achkar and other UPMC facilities.

Dr Achkar spent a lot of time with me on 2 separate occasions not only to help me understand my current situation and also to give me the best possible treatment plan moving forward. He inherited my unusual case and has been working with dr raptis to try to resolve it. I appreciate his effort and attention.

Once I was being seen, I have no complains at all. They know what they are doing. But I waiting 55-60 minutes in the private room they assigned me without any explanation as to why the doctor was late or how much longer I needed to wait.
