J. Peter Rubin, MD, MBA, FACS, is a plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Rubin is Founding Chair of the UPMC Department of Plastic Surgery, the UPMC Endowed Professor of Plastic Surgery, Director of UPMC Wound Healing Services, and Professor of Bioengineering and Business Administration at the University of Pittsburgh. He founded the UPMC “Life After Weight Loss Center,” one of the first centers of excellence for plastic surgery after weight loss in the United States. He received his medical degree from Tufts University and completed his plastic surgery training at Harvard University.
Dr. Rubin is an expert in plastic surgery after weight loss, aesthetic surgery, liposuction, and fat grafting. His pioneering clinical work over more than two decades has helped evolve a new discipline of plastic surgery after massive weight loss.

He is currently the president of the International Society of Plastic Regenerative Surgery and also currently serves on the board of directors of the prestigious American Association of Plastic Surgeons Research. Dr. Rubin currently serves on the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons patient safety committee for plastic surgery after weight loss. He has published more than 250 peer reviewed articles, 70 book chapters, and authored/edited 7 textbooks.

Dr. Rubin and his staff were everything I hoped they would be! They listened and explained everything in simple terms, they were light hearted and I just loved the experience! Can't wait to work with them again!

It was very comfortable and he asked open ended questions that helped me get with the process of consulting for skin removal. He was clear about what insurances pay and look for. We did not discuss cost of other procedures but I was encourage to come in for an in-person visit for a more detailed visit. I enjoyed talking to him and his assistant they made the appointment easy and their smiles were contagious!

Dr. Rubin was very knowledgable about the procedure I am interested in having. He was professional, and gave an overview of the steps of the procedure. He also advised of some prior procedures with Dr. Coleman that were applicable to the procedure I'm interested in having. It was a very informative and good first appointment
