John A. McKeating, MD, is a general surgeon and is board certified by the American Board of Surgery.  He is co-chairman of the Department of Surgery at UPMC Mercy. He is also associate professor of surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Dr. McKeating received his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. His residency was at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, and he completed a fellowship in surgical oncology cancer surgery at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in Buffalo, New York.

Dr. McKeating’s clinical interests include gastrointestinal surgery, abdominal core health, abdominal hernias, and complex reconstructive abdominal surgery, as well as colon-rectal and anorectal procedures. He is also interested in a wide realm of general surgical procedures, including endoscopy. Dr. McKeating has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals. He enjoys spending time with his family, and his hobbies include reading and fishing.
